Dolce & Gabbana 2001 Espresso Suede Fringe Crossbody
The Find: From Dolce & Gabbana's 2001 bohemian collections, the season Domenico and Stefano built around Western and 70s rock and shot the campaign out in the desert with Gisele. This crossbody comes straight out of that world. Espresso brown suede, fringe at the flap and along the base, antiqued brass grommets throughout. Fringe is everywhere this summer. Armani showed it in macramé this spring, Sportmax worked it into the tailoring, and it is across the front rows and all over street style. The look is back on screen too. The most talked-about bag in The Devil Wears Prada 2 is a dark brown suede fringe Valentino that retails for $2,690. This is the real 2001 archive, and pieces like it do not surface often.
