Roberto Cavalli Maia Serpent Sunglasses, Gold Mirror
The Find: Cavalli named his eyewear after stars and myths in this era, and Maia is one of the Pleiades. Fitting, because the whole design is built around light. A gold serpent uncoils out of each temple, its body scaled and set with crystal, and the gold mirror lenses throw everything back at you. This is the Cavalli that Italian eyewear was actually good at in the mid-2000s: metalwork you can feel the weight of, a motif the house owned outright, and a silhouette that has been out of production long enough that finding one complete with its case is the hard part. Comes with the original black Cavalli hard case, logo picked out in rhinestone.

Measurements: Lens 68mm. Bridge 9mm. Temple 125mm.
Condition: Very good vintage. One crystal is absent from the serpent on the left temple, shown in photos. Every other stone is present and seated firmly. One lens shows a faint discoloration that catches in certain light and does not obstruct vision, also photographed. Hinges are tight, gold plating is bright with only light handling marks, nose pads intact. The case has light shelf wear consistent with age.
Authenticity: Guaranteed authentic Roberto Cavalli.
